Contents page:
-Images: the contents page contains a number of images.
This is because by having images the separate stories are attractive and easily
categorised. For example on the snow patrol article the image of the band was
used as well as a close up of the person who would have represented the lead
singer. Therefore this would have attracted the audience as the people involved
were easily recognisable.
-Structure: the structure of my contents page was similar
to other magazines I had researched. For example in many other magazines
sub-headings categorised the different stories. In my magazine one category
contained the latest new to do with individual bands as well as a second
category for the Indie Awards of 2012. Also other magazines did display the top
stories of their magazines in their own sub-heading. I did this also as a way
of advertising more than a low number of top stories which were also shown on
the front page. These were situated on the right hand side of the page which
separated it into its own column and therefore showing that with each
subheading they are different and indeed more important than the other stories
within the magazine.
-Mast head: the mast head for the contents page was very similar to many
other codes and conventions. For example in other magazines the mast head is often
situated to the left of the page with a band index spanning down the page. However
as there was no band index the mast head was moved along by a banner displaying
the date and issue number? The mast head like the cover mast head was placed in
a box making it stand out which is not common for other magazines. I included
this because after experimenting with different fonts and styles they didn’t stand
out in the way I had imagined. However with the box the wording stood out and
was easily recognisable as the mast head which may be confused with subheadings
for the different categories of the magazine.
